Most traditional people management systems have typically concentrated
only on an annual review – the lead up to the annual review and the setting
of objectives/results for the coming 12 months. These events have a place in
the overall system of managing the performance of our people, but this
approach treats such snapshots (if they occur at all) as a ‘by-product’.
